This, over time became a kind of currency for the Muisca, and came to settle hundreds of kilometers from Zipaquira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently the municipality is one of the most important salt exploitation centers in Colombia so today it is known as the \u201cCity of Salt\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, during the period of the colony Zipaquir\u00e1 presented several transformations and ceased to be a town of muisca commerce to become an important population center, where it housed Indians, mestizos, Creoles and Spaniards among many others; leaving a series of fortunate and unfortunate events that have marked each of the sites in this territory.
